The Blind Ninja
Painted Spring 2013
Awhile back, we had a campaign where we needed a blind ninja thief. I figured I lucked out since I didn't have to paint pupils in the eyes-- voila!
Practice Study: Painting more shadows into the back of his cape to become more familiar with determining where shadows/highlights fall-- one of my first attempts at blending.
Lesson learned: Don't over-seal your miniature-- it darkens the miniature overall and anything with a semi-glossy finish negates any subtle highlights and/or textures you've tried to establish.
I still don't know how The Blind Ninja navigated those moonlit rooftops during the end battle, but he ended up being one of my favorite bad guys.
